What Is the ILS Paramedic Bag?
The VM-ILSBC (FAK-ILS) is a comprehensive Intermediate Life Support paramedic bag designed for ILS-level practitioners ? advanced emergency care technicians (AECTs) and emergency medical practitioners ? who are authorised to perform IV cannulation and administer fluids and medications at the scene and in transit. The ILS bag provides all BLS capabilities and adds the IV access, larger syringes, antiseptic solution, and infant resuscitator required for the expanded ILS scope of practice.

The VM-ILSBC includes all standard first aid, wound care, airway, oxygen delivery, obstetric, and monitoring items found in the BLS bag, with the following ILS additions: full IV cannula range (14g, 16g, 18g, 20g, 22g, 24g ? 4 each), hypodermic needles 18g and 20g, syringes 10ml and 20ml (versus 5ml in BLS), antiseptic solution 50ml, rescue scissors 190mm (larger than BLS), and a dedicated infant resuscitator in addition to the adult resuscitator. Complete wound care: bandages (50/75/100mm conforming, crepe, triangular), burn dressings 100mm ? 4, first aid dressings No.2/3/5, gauze, cotton wool, plasters, linen savers. Monitoring: pocket aneroid BP meter, stethoscope, pupil torch, digital thermometer. Obstetric: cord clamps ? 3, mucus extractor, maternity delivery pads.
Bag Design
The ILS bag features a distinctive red exterior with black straps, multiple internal compartments colour-coded for airway, vascular, monitoring, and obstetric items. Backpack-style carry straps and a rigid internal frame maintain bag shape and allow rapid one-handed access to individual compartments at the scene.
