What Is the Instrument Tray Set?
The VM-IT71-144 combines two essential clinical trays: a rectangular instrument tray (IT71-140/C, 305?205?50mm with cover) for organising and presenting sterile instruments during procedures, and a kidney-shaped emesis tray (KT71-144, 205?100?35mm) for collecting used instruments, waste, and patient specimens. Both are manufactured from 18/10 medical-grade stainless steel for durability and complete sterilisability.
Clinical Uses of Instrument Trays
Rectangular instrument trays are used to lay out sterile instruments before and during surgical or minor procedures ? suturing, wound debridement, IV line placement, catheterisation, and gynaecological examinations. The matching cover (IT71-140/C) allows the tray to be prepared in advance, covered, and transported to the procedure area maintaining sterility. Kidney trays are indispensable at the bedside for collecting vomitus (emesis), used swabs, discarded needles in conjunction with a sharps container, or as a receiving vessel during wound irrigation procedures.
Material and Maintenance
Both trays are constructed from 18/10 stainless steel (18% chromium, 10% nickel) which provides excellent corrosion resistance to repeated steam autoclave cycles (134?C), chemical disinfectants, and saline. The smooth interior surfaces are easily cleaned and inspected for residual contamination. Trays should be inspected regularly for dents, cracks, or surface pitting that could compromise sterility assurance.
