The Charder MS3500 (VM-SBMS3500) is a clinical digital scale designed for accurate body weight measurement of infants and toddlers across the full paediatric growth range. Its 20kg capacity accommodates children from birth through the toddler years, and the dual graduation system — 5g increments below 10kg and 10g increments above — provides finer resolution for newborn and young infant measurements where small weight changes are clinically significant, while maintaining adequate precision for older and heavier toddlers. In neonatal and infant care, weight gain or loss in the order of tens of grams can be the primary indicator of feeding adequacy, hydration status, and growth trajectory, making the 5g graduation a meaningful clinical specification. The removable infant tray features sloped safety edges designed to contain and support the infant during weighing, reducing roll risk without requiring manual restraint. When the child is old enough to stand independently, the tray is removed and the scale platform used directly as a standing toddler scale — extending the clinical service life of the unit across a wider age range.

Hold and Tare for Single-Clinician Operation in High-Volume Settings

The hold function locks the displayed weight once a stable reading is achieved, allowing the clinician to note the value after the infant has been removed from the tray and may have resumed movement — eliminating the need for a second person to observe the display during the weighing event. The tare function zeros the scale with a nappy, blanket, clothing item, or other accessory on the tray, ensuring that recorded weight reflects net body weight without requiring mental subtraction or re-dressing the infant. Together, these functions allow reliable, accurate infant weighing by a single clinician in high-volume child health environments including immunisation sessions, growth monitoring programmes, and busy maternity ward rounds where the time per patient encounter is constrained.

Optional Stadiometer, Wireless EMR Integration, and Mobile Deployment

Compatible optional stadiometers — the HM80DT or HM100D — attach directly to the MS3500 and display length or height results on the scale’s LCD, with both weight and height data transferable wirelessly to compatible electronic medical record systems via Charder Connect software. This wireless integration eliminates manual transcription of anthropometric measurements into patient records at the point of care, reducing documentation errors and saving consultation time in volume settings such as primary health clinics, school health programmes, and Well Baby clinics. An optional carry bag (AR-2491) enables the MS3500 to be transported between consulting rooms, wards, or community outreach locations, supporting mobile paediatric health programmes and district-level child health screening.
