The Digital Flexible Tip Thermometer (VM-THDFLEX) is a mercury-free clinical thermometer with a soft flexible probe that reduces patient discomfort compared to rigid-tip thermometers, particularly for oral and rectal measurement routes where probe rigidity can cause discomfort or injury risk in children and infants. The flexible tip conforms gently to body contours, improving probe-to-tissue thermal contact consistency for reliable temperature readings across all three measurement routes — oral, axillary (armpit), and rectal. The thermometer is calibrated across the clinical body temperature range of 32–42°C with ±0.1°C accuracy, sufficient for confident discrimination of normothermia from clinically significant fever in all age groups. The 3.5-digit LCD displays the current temperature clearly, and out-of-range indicators — L°C for temperatures below 32°C and H°C for temperatures above 42°C — alert the user when a measurement falls outside the calibrated range.

Audible Completion Alarm and Waterproof Construction

The VM-THDFLEX emits an audible beep alarm when the measurement cycle is complete — typically after approximately 60 seconds in the measurement position — signalling that the final stable temperature reading is available for observation. This completion alarm removes the need for the user to continuously monitor for reading stability, allowing the thermometer to be positioned and then attended to when the beep sounds. The waterproof construction allows the probe and shaft to be rinsed under running water between uses, supporting hygiene protocols for both multi-patient clinical environments and routine home cleaning. The thermometer contains no mercury, eliminating the safety hazard of glass breakage and mercury spill associated with traditional mercury thermometers and allowing safe disposal through standard household waste streams.
