What Is the Basic Surgery Set 24pc?
The VM-SSB24 is a 24-piece general purpose minor surgical instrument set. It is designed for procedures such as incision and drainage, excision of skin lesions, wound exploration and minor soft tissue surgery. The instruments are pre-selected and supplied together in a stainless steel instrument box, so facilities do not need to source each instrument separately. This gives a consistent, standardised setup for minor surgical procedures and simplifies procurement and stock control.
Instrument Contents and Clinical Use
The set contains a stainless steel instrument box (25 × 12 × 6cm), four Bakhaus towel clamps (10.5cm) and two Chaput tissue forceps (14cm, 2×3 teeth). It also has six Halsted mosquito forceps (12.5cm, curved), a Pean artery forceps (14cm, straight), standard dressing forceps (14.5cm, straight), Collin tissue forceps (16cm, oval jaws) and standard tissue forceps (14.5cm, 1×2 teeth, straight). Suturing and dissection are covered by a Mayo-Hegar needle holder (18cm), a Metzenbaum curved scissor (14cm), a Mayo curved scissor (14cm) and a #4 scalpel handle. A double-ended probe (14.5cm), a pair of Farabeuf baby retractors (12cm) and a 100ml stainless steel gallipot complete the set. Together these instruments cover clamping, grasping, cutting, retracting, probing and holding fluids during a procedure.
Sterilisation, Setting and Procurement
All instruments in the VM-SSB24 are surgical-grade stainless steel and autoclavable at 134°C prevacuum or 121°C gravity, so the set can be reprocessed and used repeatedly. The instrument box serves as both storage and sterile presentation tray for the procedure. The set is suitable for GP procedure rooms, outpatient surgical clinics, district hospitals and private surgical suites performing minor to intermediate surgical procedures under local anaesthesia.
