The VM-BDK2K K2K Heavy Duty Manual Hospital Bed is a high-capacity, 2-function manual bed engineered for clinical and home care environments where a robust, stationary, high safe-working-load bed is required. With a 200kg safe working load — significantly higher than standard ward beds — aluminium construction throughout, and anti-slip fixed feet for secure stationary positioning, the K2K is suited to general medical wards, rehabilitation units, frail care facilities, and home care setups where patient weight capacity and structural durability are priorities.

200kg Safe Working Load

The K2K’s 200kg safe working load is its defining clinical advantage — providing a 48% higher weight capacity than standard 135kg hospital beds and making it suitable for heavier patients who would otherwise require dedicated bariatric equipment. The higher SWL is supported by the bed’s aluminium frame construction and reinforced design throughout.

Two Independent Crank Functions

The K2K uses two manual cranks for backrest and knee rest adjustment — providing the full range of positional flexibility required for patient care without the complexity or maintenance requirements of electric actuation.

The backrest adjusts from flat (0°) to 75° (±10°), supporting supine rest, semi-Fowler and Fowler positioning for respiratory, cardiac, and post-operative patients, and upright positioning for eating, therapy, and patient comfort.

The knee rest adjusts from 0° to 40° (±10°), providing lower limb elevation for oedema management, post-operative care, venous insufficiency, and patient comfort during extended bed rest.

Fixed Height — 490mm

The bed sits at a fixed height of 490mm — a standard clinical working height — without a height adjustment crank. Fixed height reduces mechanical complexity, lowers maintenance requirements, and keeps the unit cost accessible while retaining all the positional adjustment functionality required for general patient care.

Aluminium Bed Ends & Side Rails with Extra Protection

Both bed ends are manufactured from aluminium with a sticker finish, and the side rails are aluminium with extra protection — providing a more robust, durable, and longer-lasting construction compared to ABS plastic alternatives. Aluminium resists impact, corrosion, and deformation under the stresses of a 200kg working load environment, and maintains its structural integrity over extended high-use periods.

Anti-Slip Fixed Bed Feet

The K2K is fitted with 4 anti-slip bed feet covers rather than castors — creating a stationary, stable bed that does not move during patient transfers, repositioning in bed, or nursing care. Anti-slip feet are preferred in home care settings where an unintentionally mobile bed creates a safety hazard, and in ward environments where the bed is intended to remain in a fixed position.

IV Pole with 4 Provisions & 2 Drainage Hooks

The included IV pole supports in-bed infusion management, with 4 IV pole provisions allowing flexible positioning around the bed frame. Two drainage hooks provide secure hanging positions for urinary drainage bags and wound drains.
