Three Electric Motor Functions with Battery Backup

The VM-BDOBE (B-48-2) obstetric bed uses Ti Motion electric motors sourced from Taiwan to drive all three primary functions: backrest articulation from 0 to 70° (±5°), height travel across a 300mm (±30mm) range, and Trendelenburg/reverse Trendelenburg tilt to 12° (±2°). Battery backup is integrated into the electro-hydraulic system, maintaining full positional control during power interruptions — a critical safety feature in maternity environments where a patient cannot safely remain in an elevated or tilted position while awaiting mains restoration. Motor-driven positioning allows precise, repeatable adjustments by a single clinician without manual effort, reducing physical strain during prolonged labour management and enabling fine positional corrections during delivery, perineal assessment, and postnatal care.

Telescopic Leg Section, Mattress, and Obstetric Fittings

The B-48-2 features a 550 mm telescopic slide-away leg section controlled by linear bearing, exposing the perineal working area for delivery. Adjustable leg supports and a sliding grip holder accommodate different patient body sizes and clinical positioning requirements during second-stage labour. The 8 cm high-density sponge mattress is covered in artificial leather, providing a wipeable, fluid-resistant surface compatible with standard obstetric-grade cleaning protocols. Fold-down ABS safety side rails and an ABS head board provide structural protection with patient access from all sides. Hand grips are fitted for patient use during active labour contractions, and a large drain tray is included for fluid collection during and immediately after delivery.

Frame, Castors, and Clinical Suitability

The bed frame is steel with an epoxy powder-coat finish for corrosion resistance and durability under routine disinfection. Four 125 mm castors with central brakes allow ward repositioning and stable locking during delivery and procedure. The central brake system secures all four castors simultaneously from a single pedal, preventing unintended movement during active clinical use.
