Q26 Storage Cart Complete with Drawers

The Q-26 Storage Cart Complete with Drawers (VM-Q26SC) is a modular, mobile medical storage cart offering 26 drawer positions in a 610 × 610mm floor area, manufactured by Venplas as the large unit in the Q-Cart range. Standing 1750mm high, the Q-26 replaces built-in ward and departmental cabinetry with a lockable, castor-mounted unit that can be relocated when a department reorganises or changes use. Clear impact-resistant thermoplastic drawers are available in three sizes — No. 1 small (540 × 40 × 610mm), No. 2 medium (540 × 100 × 510mm), and No. 3 large (540 × 150 × 510mm) — and sub-containers subdivide drawers for small item organisation. Drawers are fitted with a positive stop preventing accidental removal from the cart. The self-storing rollfront retracts into the body of the cart in the open position, keeping corridors clear. Lockable for content security. Exterior dimensions: 610 × 1750 × 610mm (W × H × D). Weight: 38kg. 125mm castors. Available in South Africa from Vital Medical.

Q26 Storage Cart Complete with Drawers
Q26 Storage Cart Complete with Drawers

The Q-26 Storage Cart Complete with Drawers (VM-Q26SC) is the large cart in Venplas’s Q-Cart medical range, providing 26 drawer positions in the same 610 × 610mm footprint as the eleven-position Q-11. The entire additional capacity of the Q-26 is gained vertically — the cart stands 1750mm high against the Q-11’s 860mm — so in any clinical environment where floor area is the primary spatial constraint, the Q-26 offers more than twice the storage positions without occupying additional floor space. This makes it the appropriate choice when a ward, department, or central stores location needs to carry a full range of consumables and cartridge stock in a single unit rather than across multiple smaller carts or fixed cabinetry. The drawer positions are not fixed at manufacture: drawers are selected to suit the specific application, allowing the configuration to be matched to the actual size distribution of the items being stored rather than accepting a predetermined layout. At 1750mm, the uppermost positions are above eye level for many staff, which is a practical consideration when determining which stock categories are assigned to which rows in the stack.

Clear Thermoplastic Drawers, Sub-Containers, and Lockable Rollfront

The Q-26’s drawers are manufactured from clear thermoplastic and are impact resistant. The transparency of the drawer material allows staff to identify the contents at a glance without requiring adhesive labelling of every position — a practical advantage in environments where stock rotation, rapid access, and hygiene of labelling surfaces matter. Each drawer is fitted with a positive stop mechanism that prevents it from being accidentally pulled clear of the cart during normal use, eliminating the risk of a fully loaded drawer detaching. Three drawer sizes are available: No. 1 small (540 × 40 × 610mm), No. 2 medium (540 × 100 × 510mm), and No. 3 large (540 × 150 × 510mm). Sub-containers in three sizes — small (75 × 75 × 225mm), medium (150 × 75 × 225mm), and large (75 × 75 × 450mm) — fit inside drawers to subdivide them for small items such as syringes, cannulae, and other consumables that would otherwise migrate within a larger drawer. The rollfront closes and locks to secure the full drawer stack, and is self-storing in the open position: rather than swinging outward into a corridor or work area, the rollfront retracts into the body of the cart, keeping the clinical passageway unobstructed during stock access.

Mobile Storage for Ward Provisioning, Central Stores, and Departmental Reorganisation

The primary argument for the Q-26 over fixed built-in cabinetry is mobility. A department that reorganises its layout, a ward that changes clinical function, or a store that outgrows its current location must strip out and rebuild fixed fixtures — a cart is wheeled to wherever the stock is needed and continues to function. This is the practical meaning of reducing dependence on built-in storage, and it is most cost-effectively considered at the point of a refurbishment or fit-out specification rather than retrospectively. The Q-26’s 125mm castors support movement of the loaded cart, and the 38kg unloaded weight is appropriate for a single-person repositioning on a level surface. The cart is suited to departmental and ward supply storage in place of fixed cabinetry, cartridge and consumable storage where a single unit feeds a busy department, and central stores configurations where stock is prepared and distributed to multiple wards. Available in South Africa from Vital Medical, the VM-Q26SC is suited to hospitals, clinics, frail care facilities, and any healthcare environment requiring flexible, high-capacity, mobile medical storage.
