Dual-Colour OLED Display with Four Directions and Six Display Modes

The CONTEC CMS50D fingertip pulse oximeter is distinguished by its 1.3-inch double-colour OLED display with 160×64 pixel resolution, which provides high-contrast SpO2 and pulse rate data in a format that is clearly readable in both bright and low-light environments. The four display direction options, which rotate the display to four orientations, mean that the CMS50D can be read correctly regardless of which finger or hand is used, and regardless of which direction the device is facing when held up for reading. Six display mode options allow the user to choose between different combinations of SpO2 value, pulse rate value, plethysmogram waveform and pulse bar graph, tailoring the display content to the user’s preference or clinical need. Four brightness levels allow the display to be adjusted from minimum for battery conservation in low-light environments to maximum for readability in bright ambient light.

Plethysmogram Waveform and Accurate Dual-Parameter Measurement

The CMS50D displays both a plethysmogram (pulse waveform) and a pulse bar graph alongside the numerical SpO2 and pulse rate values. The waveform provides an additional visual check on signal quality: a well-formed, consistent waveform confirms good probe contact and reliable signal acquisition, while an irregular or low-amplitude waveform indicates poor perfusion or probe positioning issues. SpO2 measurement covers 35–99% with ±2% accuracy in the 70–99% range and 1% resolution. Pulse rate measurement covers 30–250 bpm with ±2 bpm or ±2% accuracy (larger value applies) and 1 bpm resolution. Continuous use exceeds 30 hours on 2 × 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, and a low battery indication warns before power is exhausted.

At 57 × 31 × 32 mm, the CMS50D is a compact, pocket-sized device suitable for rapid SpO2 assessment in hospitals, emergency transport, GP consulting rooms, home monitoring and sports performance applications. Resistance to ambient light interference and performance at low perfusion ensure reliable readings in real-world conditions. Automatic power-off conserves battery life when the device is not in use, and the display format is retained in memory after power-off, so the user’s preferred configuration is restored at next use.
